Did this drawing of my friend Jeremiah after several glasses of wine. The technique was intentional. What surprises me is that it actually does resemble him, in a squiggly sort of way.

Kimi

Super-simple sketch I did of Kimi Recor, talented artist and lead singer of local band Lilofee. Keep a sharp eye out for Kimi's rad artwork at 111 Minna in February, and give her band a listen, because it effing rocks. I'm showing some of Kimi's work in June as part of my whorishly big group show at Medicine Agency.

Annnnnnd, here's the sketch for yesterday. I like this one a lot more than the one I posted yesterday. Oh, and happy first Thursday, ya'll (first one of the year!!!!). I'll be missing the openings tonight due to my friend Ed's birthday dinner in Berkeley, bummersville.

Really disappointed with this but I'll post it anyways. This was supposed to be a girl with coffee and the head of a puffin. I like puffins. This doesn't look like a puffin. Plus, I didn't have my watercolors with me and was forced to improvise. Oh well, there's always another day. Next time I'll go with the profile view, since foreshortening a puffin's face makes it look not like a puffin.

So I'm going to make a serious effort to do at least one sketch a day in 2010. I was too hungover and slept most of the day on the first of the year, so here's my sketch for January 2nd. Thanks to my friend Jeff Luger for the pic of some skateboarder eating it on the pavement that I used for reference.

In other news, this was the first sketch in a new Moleskine. I lost my previous one a few days before NYE. Big pat on the back for the ever-brilliant Ms. Townsend on a job well done there.
